The Deskovitz Maternity center is the regional high risk maternity center which means the hospital has the ability to treat premature babies born as early as 23 weeks of pregnancy and beyond. These babies require the utmost in high tech knowledge and skill to nurture them home to their waiting parents. The hospital also provides a full complement of Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist, obstetricians who consult with us on complicated pregnancies and perform high-level ultrasound assessments of all our patients at 20 weeks of pregnancy. In addition, they offer genetic counseling to help our patient understand their genetic history and its potential impact on their future children.

With this supportive team and our experience with high risk patients, we can care for the most challenging patients in our practice and have the resources available to assist with any complications that might occur.

The maternity unit offers private rooms for all our laboring and delivering patients. We encourage you to deliver in our quiet, comfortable labor room with your partner, and selected family members present. Immediate skin-to-skin bonding is our standard and encouraged along with early nursing. Labor anesthesia is available on request, including nitrous oxide, epidurals, and pain medication. Unmedicated labor and delivery is always supported and complemented by labor tubs and Jacuzzis for appropriate candidates.

The Meade Pavilion houses our calm and nurturing post-delivery unit. Every patient has a well-appointed private room and bathroom along with a convertible couch/bed for an additional family member to stay with you. The unit is Baby Friendly certified, a prestigious certification for units proactively assisting new mothers in nursing their babies. Every nurse has additional training in breastfeeding and in assisting you in learning how to care for your newborn. Lactation consults are available on the unit every day and work individually with moms to ensure they are ready and able to feed their baby once released from the hospital.
